Jeffrey Ross Roasts Westboro Baptist Church
Posted on Jan?13,?2013
Actor Russell Brand stirred some controversy when he invited members of Westboro Baptist Church onto his television program ?Brand X.? But comedian Jeffrey Ross did him one better when he went to the actual church in Topeka, Kan., to roast members of the hate group to their faces for his Comedy Central show ?The Burn.?
Ross was met by two protesters carrying signs reading ?Fag Pimps ?Burn??? and a picture of the roastmaster?s face. ?I?ll take that as a compliment,? Ross told the person holding the sign as he tried to explain its meaning.
When the demonstrators tried to tell Ross that God wrote his ?filthy jokes,? Ross responded, ?You?re saying God writes my jokes? I was up all night writing these jokes!?
Then, he began the roast.
?Westboro, you?re always exercising your First Amendment rights, but I wish you would exercise your Fifth Amendment right and remain silent,? Ross joked, adding, ?it?s a good thing you?re exercising your First Amendment rights, because it?s the only exercise you guys get.?
