One of the biggest names at The Greenbrier Classic is teaming up with the event's organizer to support military veterans.

Phil Mickelson and Jim Justice along with their wives will host Birdies for the Brave, a military appreciation gala and Pro-Am charity golf event to support military organizations who serve military families. It is designed to financially support programs and service specialized for wounded warriors and military families through fundraising events.

For Justice, to be involved it almost brings a tear to his eye.

"It was an incredible gift for Phil to ask me and Kathy to be apart of," he said.

Justice said he was interested in Mickelson's efforts with Birdies for the Brave because he and his wife have a military background with both of their fathers serving in the armed forces. Mickelson and his wife established the charity in 2005.

Mickelson said the event is a one-time deal which will not be held annually. He said he has a lot of respect for Justice.

"I look up to him for the way he helps people," Mickelson said. "He takes advantage of the opportunities he has to help others."

Birdies for the Brave is set for Nov. 30-Dec. 1 at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
