Android: If you're curious what's going on in your community, there's always your local paper, but Proximitips wants to help you see what photos others are sharing, what people are talking about on Twitter, and where people are hanging out in your neighborhood specifically.
The beauty of Proximitips is that you get a window into what's going on in your neighborhood specifically. If you live in a major metro area, local newspapers will likely tell you city-wide news, and if you live in the suburbs, you'll get county-wide or regional news. Proximitips shows you public Flickr photos being uploaded from your community, FourSquare check-in points and events in your neighborhood, and what people who live in your area are tweeting about.
At the same time, there's no guarantee that what everyone in your neighborhood is talking about is interesting, so take the app with a grain of salt. The app logs you in with Facebook so you can easily share what you find, but it's not required. Proximitips is free, and available now in the Android App Market.
