SOUTHFIELD, Mich. ? Lawrence Technological University is going to host its first varsity basketball game in nearly a half-century.

The men's and women's teams will play Lourdes College on Saturday.

The games at Don Ridler Field House in Southfield will mark the Blue Devils' first home varsity games in 48 years. The Ridler Field House court didn't exist when Lawrence Tech suspended its basketball program in the 1960s.

Men's coach Tom Kempf and women's coach Mary Pinkowski have assembled teams consisting mostly of freshmen and a few transfer students.

It's been a rough go of it so far for the men's team, which has lost its first five games of the season, all away from home. The women's team is 1-1.
