Question by La La: I GOT RIPPED OFF!!!! Can?t I get my money back if I didn?t sign a broker?s agreemnent? I AM A GA RESIDENT
My broker said I cant have my earnest money back even though she said to ?bring my earnest money in the form of a check or a money order 500-1500? but when I wrote the check she said to place in the memo section retainer so that it can be applied at closing with no problems and also the sellar can?t try to take it. the seller accepted another offer and i decided to stop the home buying process and I asked for the check back and she told me that it was non refundble and can only be applied at closing and that is was to retain her service similar to an attourney and said if i want to stop the process that she will extend the offer for four months but the again it can only be credited back to me at closing IS THIS LEGAL? I have sent a letter certified letter demanding my money back and that I will take her to court and contact the real estate commision, national association of real estate brokers, and GA MLS, and Randy Travis with fox 5 news investigation team. 1k is a lot of $ to loose

That sounds very fishy. I?d put a stop payment on the check also.
Contact legal aid and ask about this.
